Focus on gastroenterologyFeline Gastroenterology: all you ever wanted to know!

Speakers: Andrea Harvey and Dr Andrew Sparkes

This day will focus on feline gastroenterology – a common problem area in feline medicine. The course is aimed at vets; VNs are welcome to attend. The topics covered will seek to address questions including:

  • How common is oesophageal disease in cats? What are the main causes and how can I diagnose these?
  • Feline liver disease: what’s the best way to biopsy livers? Is this essential to diagnosis? How do the treatment regimes vary according to each diagnosis? What’s the prognosis?
  • How helpful are nutraceuticals in the management of feline liver disease?
  • Can pancreatitis be diagnosed in practice? What’s the best way to manage these frustrating cases?
  • What new causes of infectious diarrhoea should I be aware of? How are these treated?
  • Feline IBD: is there anything new? How are these patients best diagnosed and treated?
  • Constipated cats: diet, drugs or colectomy? What are the options and what’s a logical management plan?
  • How effective is diet in the management of feline GI disease? Hydrolysed protein or single protein sources – how do I choose?
  • Help, this cat is ascitic – how can I quickly make a diagnosis?
